UD faculty members discuss 2013 prize-winners at annual symposium

November 21, 2013 - Stephen Barr, professor of physics and astronomy, explained the physics prize, given to Francois Englert and Peter W. Higgs for the theoretical prediction of “a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles … recently confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle.”

Prof. Nikolic gives talk on spin-orbit torques at EastMag 2013 in Vladivostok, Russia

September 24, 2013 - At the recent EastMag 2013 international conference in far east Russia, Prof. Nikolic gave a talk summarizing theoretical predictions for a new type of spin-transfer torques driven by strong spin-orbit coupling on the surface of recently discovered topological insulator materials.

Prof. Xiao gives talk at the Gordon Research Conference on spin dynamics in nanostructures

August 31, 2013 - At the recent Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Spin Dynamics in Nanostructures at the The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Xiao gave a talk on Magnetization Dynamics in Magnetic Heterostructures. Traditionally, magnetizations have only been manipulated by external magnetic fields.

Special issue of JCEL on "Electronic transport in graphene nanostructures and devices" guest edited by Prof. Nikolic

June 18 , 2013 - The recently published special issue of the Journal of Computational Electronics (JCEL) contans a collection of sixteen articles devoted to  the topic of electronic transport in graphene nanostructures and devices. These articles, written by world-leading researchers, were invited and guest edited by Prof. Nikolic.
