We review the realization of non-minimal inflation driven by the quartic potential of a Higgs field which is involved in the breaking of a U(1)B-L gauge symmetry within Supersymmetric (SUSY) and non-SUSY models. Inflation is in agreement with the current data and can be attained for subplanckian values of the inflaton and its mass is predicted to be at most 4x10^13 GeV. We select models which retain the perturbative unitarity up to the Planck scale.
